Teens Have Friday Night Fun in The
Zone

What to do on Friday night if you are in middle school?
Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation may have found the answer.
The Zone.
The Zone is a program for middle school-age youth, offered
every other Friday at the Belvedere Community Center. Teens
and pre-teens gather to socialize with friends, play video
and board games, impromptu games of tag, and watch movies.
The director of the program, Curt Jackson says, “It’s
a great place for the kids to hang out in a safe and enjoyable
atmosphere. This is the first year of The Zone. While attendance
has been up to 20 kids a night, the goal is to serve 30-40
sixth to eighth graders per night.”
To help achieve that goal, the Belvedere Community Foundation
recently approved a $2,500 grant to the Belvedere Tiburon
Recreation for the purchase of additional equipment. The
shopping list for The Zone includes a ping pong table,
a new game system with games and controllers, a projector
to be used to show movies and games on a large pull down
screen, karaoke equipment, and some craft supplies – all
items that have been requested by the teen and pre-teen
attendees.
With even more exciting activities, the hope is even
more kids will stay in The Zone. For more information,
